Sumex Auto Tech operates a machining-focused manufacturing facility in Punjab, India, equipped for vertically integrated production of UJ Crosses and propeller shaft components. The setup spans CNC/VMC/HMC machining, gear hobbing, broaching, induction hardening, centreless and cylindrical grinding, dynamic balancing, surface treatment, and a calibrated QA laboratory.

CNC
  • Gear hobbing machines — External spline profiles — controlled module and pressure angle
  • Broaching machines — Internal spline generation with profile accuracy and fitment control
  • Induction hardening setup — Controlled power, frequency, and dwell parameters — case depth and HRC verified per batch
  • In-house capability — Eliminates external heat treatment dependency — process parameters fully controlled
  • Centreless grinding — Trunnion ODs, shafts, and cylindrical features to final size and surface finish
  • Cylindrical grinding — Precision diameter and roundness on critical bores and ODs

Propeller shaft sub-components requiring rotational balance — flange yokes, stub shafts, and assembled sections — are dynamically balanced to specification to minimise vibration in service.

  • Shot blasting — Oxide and scale removal prior to inspection and coating
  • Glide coating — Corrosion resistance and assembly-compatible surface treatment on functional features
